| Fenbrook was designed to house 440 male inmates, with plans for expansion to accommodate 550. Representing a departure from the familiar prison model developed in the 19th century and epitomized by the infamous Kingston Penitentiary, Fenbrook was the first correctional facility in Canada for male offenders to have been planned from scratch around a semi-urban, self-sufficient residential neighbourhood model. |

| The new site is secured by a double fence complete with anti-burrow on the inside facing. The facility was set up in a cottage/campuses type format consisting of 11 separate buildings including three non-secure residence buildings, one secure resident building, a master gate house, health centre which is a secure environment, an industries building complete with cafeteria, fully equipped kitchen, and industries shops, and a physical fitness building complete gymnasiums ad exercise rooms. Site services including a sewage lifting system and a new cogeneration station to make site self-sufficient for energy. Site works included outdoor recreation facilities and parking. |
