Project Description
Phase One of York Central Hospital's Redevelopment will,
Triple the size of Emergency and Diagnostic Imaging Departments (to be located in the new north Wing)
Double the size of Critical Care Unit (to be located in the new north Wing)
Create a state-of-the-art Birthing Centre (to be located on 5 South Langstaff Wing)
Create negative Pressure Rooms for isolation of highly infectious patients (located throughout the facility)
Provide Schedule One Mental Health Facilities including 6 new Secured Beds (to be located on Level 3 along with the Shaw Clinic along with a new corridor linking 3 West (Douglas Storms Wing) and 3 South (Langstaff Wing)
Add 87 new Inpatient Beds including new Acute Care Medicine Facilities (in the new north Wing)
Expand Fracture, Plastics and Ophthalmology Clinics (on Level Two of the Langstaff Wing in the space currently occupied by Dialysis)
Add new Medical Staff Facilities and 2,800 sq. ft. Auditorium (located in the new north Wing).
Increase total number of Inpatient beds to 508
