Description

Construction of a three storey 50 unit apartment building.  The project was built on a vacant 1.7 acre site on Fernbank Road, lying within the 90 acre Stickwood Farm Development on the south side of Mulock Drive.  The approximate square footage is 52,000.

The building achieved Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) certification by incorporating sustainable and energy efficient measures into the design.  These included landscape design with drought resistant vegetation; low flow toilets, faucets, showerheads and front-load clothes washers; appliances with reduced energy consumption; bicycle storage; and use of recycled materials and low-emitting paints.  It was first affordable housing project to be built in the province under the rental housing component of the Canada-Ontario AHP that achieved LEED Gold certification.
