Description

This project included the construction of a 2 storey, 55,000 sq.ft. building containing two wings with differing structures: [The West Wing], a two storey glulam and Cross Laminated Timber (CLT) wood structure, and [The North Wing], a two storey steel and deck structure that contains mezzanines above the second floor.  The building program contains reception, administration and office area, lounges, class rooms, studio space and a lecture theatre.

Phase 2B of the project included the renovation of the Market Building from Studio space to a workshop, gallery, and classroom space and was completed during the summer of 2015.

The site contained two existing buildings that were also renovated: the existing telegraph building that included tenants on the ground floor (a restaurant as well as a communications provider that has major communications equipment within the building and is a key fibre optic hub to business communications country wide).  Both existing buildings were fully occupied during the construction of the project.
