The maximum security correctional facility has a capacity for 315 male and female offenders. It has replaced the City’s aging jail on the west end and will serve as the Ministry of Community Safety and Correctional Services’ benchmark for all future Ontario government detention facilities. The facility was designed not only with inmate and public safety in mind, but also to encompass community through the creation of a publicly accessible gymnasium as well as exterior soccer and cricket fields. The facility was designed and built with the latest state of the art electronic security and building automation systems.
