Description

The new Oak Ridges Library will be a 19,000 sq. ft. stand-alone library located at the northwest corner of Yonge Street and Regatta Avenue in the Town of Richmond Hill.  The new library facility will consist of two storeys, basement, and above grade parking on site.

It houses a program of meeting rooms, computer rooms, maker space, library material stacks, work rooms, study rooms and learning/browsing areas for children, tweens, teens and adults.  A small basement accommodates mechanical and electrical services as wells as janitorial spaces.  The design integrates a laminated wood frame structure for the main hall with a concrete structure for the balance of the building.  Cladding is expected to be a combination of glazing, stone veneer facing and metal panel.  In addition it is anticipated that a portion of the floor area will include a low profile access flooring.  Surrounding the building is a landscape boundary along Yonge St. and Regatta Avenue.

This project is targeting LEED silver.
