This multi-use complex is 160,000 sq. ft. which comprises of 2 NHL sized ice rinks with dressing rooms, double gymnasium, meeting & multi-purpose rooms, a 25 m Lane Pool with 6 lanes, a Leisure Tank, a Splash pad and Library.  This project had 2 phases.  The ice rinks were opened in Oct ’03, while the site was split into half while the balance of the construction continued in the east.  The project had a multiple range of materials – architectural exposed reinforced concrete, concrete block, modular jumbo sized brick, Wiarton stone, architectural structural steel, structural exposed timber column & beams, wood deck, zinc panels, metal siding, structural glazing, aluminum curtain wall & windows, translucent panels, stucco, acoustic panels, drywall & paint, and millwork.

The challenge was to construct the various architectural exposed structural components in a compressed construction schedule and then intertwine the various building envelope components for their respective environments, i.e. arena and pool.  Multiple meetings were conducted to review the finishes and
building performance of the various construction materials.
