Description

The revitalization of the arena and pool facilities has transformed Mountainside Park into an exciting venue for year round recreational activity accessible to all members of the community.  The design and construction of the facilities has taken into consideration the natural characteristics of the site as well as the surrounding residential neighbourhood and ensures that these aspects are not impacted or degraded.

The revitalization of the facilities included the following works:

  • Enlarging and enhancing change rooms facilities (arena and pool house)
  • Adding an additional change room for gender accommodation
  • Enhancing accessibility
  • Replacing rink slab with insulation, new headers, new concrete, dasher boards, players benches and time keeper area
  • Enlarging lobby and warm viewing areas and concession/vending areas
  • Adding multi-use program space of approximately 2,300 sq. ft. collectively
  • Replacing necessary structural elements and mechanical systems which included new dehumidification system for the arena
  • Upgrading electrical systems
  • Relocating service areas and replacing refrigeration equipment
  • Enhancing staffing areas including workshops and administrative areas
  • Including concession area
  • Integrating the pool house with the arena providing an integrated complex
  • Insulating arena building envelope and replacing roof
