The OAA jury concluded that the Community Centre and Library fostered social interaction and sociological as well as psychological benefits, providing a crucial element in forming a sense of community and helping to develop a sense of identity.

Angus Glen Community Centre & Library
Developed in association with Stafford Haensli Architects, the Angus Glen Community Centre is situated on a 12-hectare gently sloping site overlooking the Angus Glen Golf Course in Markham, Ontario. Encompassing a future regional park, twin pad arena, gymnasium, pool, library, and multi-purpose spaces for all ages within the community, Angus Glen CommunityCentre is designed in harmony with the strong natural landscape. The Centre utilizes the topography to showcase the varying volumes of the structure.

Angus Glen Community Centre & Library
The two-year design process involved extensive consultation with the community and the Town Council as well as collaboration among a group of professionals including the Town's architect, a library consultant, and landscape architects. The building has been received in the community with great enthusiasm. Swimming programs, hockey leagues and communty clubs have been scrambling for space. The library has attracted an incredible 11,000 users per week and has spawned an increase in activity at all Markham library branches, reflected in a fifty-five per cent overall growth in the system.
